Lt Gen Giri Raj Singh, SM, the twenty fourth Director General Ordnance Services & Senior Colonel Commandant, assumed the office on 05 Jun 2017. The General officer was commissioned into Army Ordnance Corps in December 1981. He has a brilliant scholastic background with Masters in Botany, Defence and Management Studies. He is also M.Phil in Strategic Studies. An alumnus of DSSC, HDMC and NDC, the General Officer has excelled in all military courses. He has specialized in Ammunition Management and holds a vast experience of logistics management in the field army.

The General Officer commanded a Div Ord Unit in CI Ops in Jammu & Kashmir and prestigious Central Ordnance Depot, Jabalpur. He has held various important staff appointments. He was DAQMG of an Inf Div, JDOS (PP&C) at IHQ of MoD (Army), Col GS (SD/WE) of a Corps, Brig OS of a Corps and MG AOC of HQ Eastern Command. He has been posted as Staff Offr Logistics in Force HQ of UN in Somalia. He was promoted to the rank of Lt Gen in Non General Cadre (Staff Stream) and has had the unique distinction of being the GOC Bengal Area. The General Officer was elected as Colonel Commandant on 31 May 2017.

Lt Gen Giri Raj Singh has been decorated with Sena Medal and COAS Commendation Card for his distinguished services.

He is married to Mrs Anju Singh, who had been an academician by profession and is presently a Home Maker. They have two sons, Guneet Raj Singh and Maneet Raj Singh, both of whom are engineers and are presently working.
