CENTENARY COMMEMORATION OF INDIAN SOLDIER IN WORLD WAR -1

    The Centenary of World War 1 (WW-1) is being commemorated the world over from 2014-2018. The faith, gallantry and sacrifice of the Indian Soldier is being highlighted during the celebrations from 10-14 Mar 2015 at the Manekshaw Conversation Centre, Delhi Cantt. The Chief Guest for the event will be HE, the President of India. The event will also be attended by many Indian and foreign dignitaries.

    1.5 Million Indian troops fought in WW! Out of which 74362 laid down their lives. Nearly every 6th fighting on behalf of British came from India. The gallant Indian soldiers earned 11 Victoria Cross, 973 Indian Order of Merit and 3130 Indian Distinguished Service Medals during the WW-1. 12 Cavalry Regiments, 13 Infantry Regiments and several other units of other arms / services also participated in the 13 campaigns of the WW-1.

    Descendants / NOK of the Indian soldiers who fought in the WW-1 are requested to provide any memorabilia, medals, photographs, letters, documents and anecdotes for the mega event. Collection of the available material will be organised under our aegis (in case required).
